Common questions

What you need to know

Yes. Your health information is treated as sensitive and confidential. We share it only with the healthcare professionals and fulfilment partners involved in your care, and only what is necessary. We do not sell or share your data for advertising. The platform uses secure connections and encryption to help protect your information when it is submitted and handled.
Each treatment path shows its own price before you pay. The fee covers the online health assessment, licensed doctor review, and the standard included treatment option shown for that pathway where treatment is clinically approved. Some pathways may have more than one clinically appropriate medicine, dose, pack size or pharmacy item, and no treatment outcome is guaranteed.
If the doctor decides treatment is not appropriate or safe for you, we will let you know clearly. Where a payment has already been made, Nura will review the case outcome and order stage before confirming the next step. Refunds are handled fairly and case by case.
Your medication arrives in plain, unmarked packaging with no branding, no visible product name, and nothing that identifies the contents or the nature of the treatment.

About erectile dysfunction

What is erectile dysfunction?

Erectile dysfunction is a common and treatable medical condition. It refers to difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection suitable for sexual activity.

ED affects men of all ages, though it becomes more common with age. It can have physical causes, psychological causes, or a combination of both. It is not a reflection of character, strength, or worth - it is a health condition, and like most health conditions, it responds well to the right clinical support.

If you are experiencing ED regularly, speaking to a doctor is the right first step. Nura makes that step as private and straightforward as possible.

How common is it?
ED is more common than most men realise. Many do not seek help because of embarrassment. Seeking support is the medically sound thing to do.
Is it treatable?
In many cases, yes. Effective treatments exist. A doctor will assess which treatment, if any, is appropriate for your individual health profile and circumstances.
Why choose a doctor-led pathway?
Treatment suitability depends on your individual health history, other medications, and underlying conditions. A doctor review is the responsible, safe approach.
The Nura pathway

How your ED prescription-access pathway works

1
Complete the online assessment

Answer a brief set of health questions privately from your phone or computer. This takes around five minutes and is entirely confidential.

2
A doctor reviews your case

A licensed South African doctor reviews your answers and determines whether treatment is clinically appropriate and safe for you specifically.

3
Discreet fulfilment if approved

If treatment is approved, your prescription medication is delivered discreetly in plain, unmarked packaging within 24 to 48 hours.

Suitability

Is this treatment right for you?

Not every case will result in treatment - and that is the point. A doctor reviews every assessment to make sure treatment is safe and appropriate for you.

During your assessment you will be asked about your general health, any medications you take, and relevant medical history. This information allows the reviewing doctor to make a clinical judgement about your suitability for treatment.

If treatment is not appropriate, the doctor will tell you clearly and explain why.

The process

How Nura works

A straightforward, private process - from your first assessment to medication at your door. No waiting rooms. No awkward conversations.

1
Complete your online health assessment

You answer a set of health questions privately from your phone or computer. These questions cover your symptoms, medical history, current medications, and relevant lifestyle factors. The assessment is designed to give the reviewing doctor the information they need to make a safe, informed clinical decision.

Takes approximately 5 minutes. Entirely private. Your answers are treated as clinical information.
2
A licensed South African doctor reviews your case

Your assessment is reviewed by a licensed South African doctor. They assess whether treatment is clinically appropriate for you based on your individual health profile. This is a real clinical review - not an automated decision.

Every case is reviewed by a qualified, registered healthcare professional. Not a chatbot. Not an algorithm.
3
You receive the doctor's decision

If treatment is appropriate, the doctor issues a prescription. If treatment is not appropriate for your situation, the doctor will explain why and may suggest alternatives or further steps. Either way, you receive a clear, honest response.

If treatment is not issued, you will understand why. Your safety matters more than a sale.
4
Medication is dispatched discreetly

If a prescription is issued, your medication is dispatched after doctor approval by a licensed pharmacy partner. It is delivered discreetly in plain, unmarked packaging. Nothing on the outside references the medication, the treatment type, or Nura Health in a visible way.

Delivery within 24 to 48 hours. Plain packaging. Discreet sender name.
5
Support if you need it

If you need help with your order, delivery, or a general question about the process, Nura's support channel is available to assist. Clinical questions remain within the doctor-reviewed care process.

Pricing

Simple, transparent pricing

What the price covers

Each treatment path shows its own price before payment. The pathway price covers the online assessment, licensed doctor review, and the standard included treatment option shown for that pathway where treatment is clinically approved.

There is no separate consultation fee and no pharmacy markup billed separately.

Some pathways may have more than one clinically appropriate medicine, dose, pack size, or pharmacy item. If the doctor recommends something outside the standard included option, Nura will explain the difference before any additional charge is taken. No medicine, prescription, dose, or fulfilment outcome is guaranteed. Treatment is supplied only where a licensed doctor confirms it is clinically appropriate.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Answers to what people ask most about Nura, the treatment process, and what to expect.

About the service

Nura Health is a South African digital health service that provides doctor-reviewed online treatment pathways for specific health conditions. We connect you with a licensed South African doctor who reviews your case and, where clinically appropriate, approves treatment for discreet fulfilment.
Yes. Every case submitted through Nura is reviewed by a licensed, registered South African healthcare professional. Medication is only issued where a doctor has determined it is clinically appropriate. Nura is not a supplement store, a self-service medication platform, or an automated system - it is a doctor-led clinical pathway.
Nura currently supports selected treatment pathways, including erectile dysfunction and Hair Loss when the Hair Loss pathway is marked available. Visit the Treatment Paths page for the current pathway status, pricing, and next steps.

The assessment and process

You complete a short private health questionnaire covering your symptoms, medical history, current medications, and relevant lifestyle factors. This takes around five minutes. A licensed doctor then reviews your answers and makes a clinical decision about whether treatment is appropriate for you.
No. The assessment is designed so the doctor has what they need from your written responses. You do not need to join a video call or speak to anyone. If the doctor needs clarification, we will contact you via message.
Not every assessment results in treatment, and that is part of safe clinical care. If the doctor decides treatment is not appropriate or safe for you, we will let you know clearly. Where a payment has already been made, Nura will review the case outcome and the stage of the order before confirming the next step. Refunds are handled fairly and case by case, taking into account whether clinical review, pharmacy processing, dispensing, or fulfilment has already started. We will not continue with treatment or fulfilment where the doctor has not approved it.

Privacy and discretion

Yes. Your health information is treated as sensitive. The platform uses secure connections and encryption to help protect your information when it is submitted and handled. We share it only with the healthcare professionals and fulfilment partners involved in your care, and only what is necessary. We do not sell your data or share it for advertising purposes. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Your medication is delivered discreetly in plain, unmarked packaging. There is no brand name, product name, or indication of the treatment type on the outside.
Not unless you tell them. Your information is held confidentially. The people with access to your health information are only those directly involved in your care.

Pricing and delivery

Each treatment path shows its own price before you pay. The fee covers the online health assessment, licensed doctor review, and the standard included treatment option shown for that pathway where treatment is clinically approved. Some pathways may have more than one clinically appropriate medicine, dose, pack size, or pharmacy item. The included option is the standard option for that pathway. If the reviewing doctor recommends something different, or if an alternative item is needed, Nura will explain the difference before any additional charge is taken. No medicine, prescription, dose, or fulfilment outcome is guaranteed. Treatment is supplied only where a licensed doctor confirms it is clinically appropriate.
Refunds are handled fairly and case by case, taking into account whether clinical review, pharmacy processing, dispensing, or fulfilment has already started. We will not continue with treatment or fulfilment where the doctor has not approved it.
Once treatment is approved, medication is delivered within 24 to 48 hours in plain, unmarked packaging.
Medical aid coverage depends on your specific plan and scheme. Nura can provide supporting documentation where applicable, but we do not process claims directly and reimbursement or payment by your medical aid scheme is not guaranteed.

About Nura Health

Private health support,
done properly

Nura Health is a South African digital health platform. We build doctor-reviewed online treatment pathways for conditions that people may find difficult to discuss.

Why we exist

The clinic visit problem

Many people experience health conditions that they would seek help for if the process were easier, more confidential, and less intimidating. The barrier is not awareness. It is the awkwardness of a clinic visit, the fear of judgement, and the time cost of a GP appointment for something that feels personal.

Nura exists to remove that barrier. We believe that access to a doctor's expertise should not require an in-person visit for every condition. For the right conditions - where a structured assessment and clinical review can support safe treatment - a digital pathway is a genuinely better option for many people.

We are not trying to replace your GP. We are trying to make it easier to get proper clinical support for specific, well-defined conditions where a private, digital process is both appropriate and safer than doing nothing.

How we operate

Doctor-led by design

Every treatment decision at Nura involves a licensed, registered South African healthcare professional. We do not automate prescribing. We do not issue medication without a clinical review. We do not use supplement logic or vague wellness framing for what is, clinically, a medical matter.

We are building slowly and carefully. Nura currently supports selected treatment pathways, including erectile dysfunction and Hair Loss, and will expand using the same doctor-led model - with the same commitment to clinical integrity and patient privacy.

Our values

What guides us

Clinical integrity

Treatment decisions are made by doctors, not algorithms. We will not compromise on this.

Privacy first

Your health information is sensitive. We treat it as such - technically, operationally, and culturally.

Honest and clear

We tell you what is included, what the price is, and what to expect. No hidden fees and no inflated claims.

Friction removal

Every step of our process is designed to make getting proper care as easy as possible.

Built for South Africa

Licensed SA doctors. SA pricing. SA delivery. We are not a foreign service repackaged for the local market.

Steady expansion

We are starting with one condition done properly. We will expand carefully, not quickly for its own sake.

Doctor-reviewed prescription access.

Medical aid & documentation

Medical aid
and documentation

Information on medical aid coverage, documentation Nura can provide, and what to expect when dealing with your scheme.

Important note: Nura does not process medical aid claims directly. This page explains what documentation we can provide and what you may need to use with your medical aid scheme.

Does medical aid cover Nura's service?

Coverage depends on your individual medical aid plan and scheme. Some plans may cover telehealth consultations, prescription costs, or both. Others may not. Nura cannot guarantee coverage, reimbursement, or payment by any medical aid scheme.

If you are unsure whether your plan covers this type of service, we recommend contacting your scheme directly before completing your assessment.

What documentation can Nura provide?

After your consultation and, where applicable, your prescription, Nura can provide documentation that may support a medical aid submission or your own records. This documentation does not guarantee reimbursement or payment by your medical aid scheme.

Proof of consultation
A record confirming that a licensed healthcare professional reviewed your case, including the date of review.
Prescription details
Where a prescription is issued, documentation of the prescription for your records and possible claim submission.
Invoice and receipt
A formal invoice or receipt for the pathway fee you paid, suitable for record-keeping and possible submission to your medical aid where relevant. Payment or reimbursement remains subject to your scheme and plan rules.

How to request documentation

Documentation is available on request after your consultation is completed. You can use Track your case to access case tools with your case reference and mobile OTP, or contact Nura's support team with your case reference and we will provide the relevant records.

A note on clinical records

Your clinical records, including your assessment responses and the doctor's review, form part of your health record. These are retained in line with South African legal and professional requirements.

Safety & suitability

Safety and
suitability

Nura uses a doctor-reviewed model across every treatment path. This page explains the safety principles that apply platform-wide, and the additional considerations for the live ED pathway.

Platform-wide principles

How Nura approaches safety

Every case submitted through Nura is reviewed by a licensed South African doctor. Treatment is never guaranteed, and not every person will be suitable for every treatment path.

The assessment is designed to surface the information a doctor needs to review safety and suitability properly. Your medical history, current medication, symptoms, and other relevant factors all matter. The platform may identify clear urgent-stop situations, but it does not make treatment decisions.

If there is any doubt about safety, treatment will not be issued through Nura. You may instead be advised to seek an in-person consultation or other appropriate follow-up.

Across all treatment paths
  • Every case is reviewed by a licensed doctor.
  • Treatment is only issued where clinically appropriate.
  • Your answers are treated as sensitive health information.
  • Urgent symptoms should always be assessed in person.
Some cases need closer review
  • Existing medical conditions may affect suitability.
  • Current medication may interact with treatment options.
  • Recent health events may require referral or in-person care.
  • Missing or unclear information may delay a decision.
Path-specific safety notes
Nura applies the platform-wide safety principles above to every treatment path. The sections below include pathway-specific review factors and suitability cautions for ED and Hair Loss, including medicine interactions, cardiovascular considerations, scalp symptoms, medical triggers, and the quality of information needed for safe doctor review.
View ED-specific safety guidance
ED-specific review factors
  • Heart and blood-pressure history.
  • Current medication, especially possible interactions.
  • Recent major cardiovascular events or major surgery.
  • Previous reactions to ED medication.
ED pathway may not be suitable
  • Use of nitrates or certain conflicting medication.
  • Recent heart attack, stroke, or unstable cardiovascular history.
  • Severe liver or kidney disease.
  • Urgent symptoms needing immediate medical care.
View Hair Loss-specific safety guidance
Hair Loss-specific review factors
  • Pattern, duration, and speed of hair loss.
  • Scalp symptoms, irritation, shedding, or patchy loss.
  • Current medication, supplements, and treatment history.
  • Submitted scalp and hair photos for clinical review.
Hair Loss pathway may need extra care
  • Pregnancy, breastfeeding, or plans to become pregnant.
  • Sudden, severe, painful, or patchy hair loss.
  • Signs of infection, inflammation, or scarring on the scalp.
  • Medical history suggesting in-person assessment is safer.
Important
Nura is not a substitute for emergency or ongoing in-person medical care. If your symptoms are urgent, severe, or worsening, seek in-person medical attention promptly.
